Piano Bike Train

The Piano Bikes were built to kick off the Tour de France celebrations in Yorkshire. Commissioned by iMove and Dave Nelson, the brief was to pull a grand piano up the longest single incline in England by bicyle. It took 18 bikes and 36 strong legs.

Fitzcarraldo

SHIPS MAST CLOCK, THE FITZCARRALDO THEATRE TOURING SHIP

A curved 25′ high galvanized steel structure designed to enhance the ship and to entertain on the hour. The clock erupts with whistles and fog horns sounding, smoke blows North, South, East and West from four jets. The crows nest rises revealing more smoke and two spinning gold fish, as they spin faster water squirts from their mouths, spiralling down onto the audience.

Commissioned by Walk the Plank through Arts Council Lottery funding in 1996

Pier

PIER, TOURING THEATRE SHOW

A mobile, elevating pier with telescopic pavilion and organ, built on a 2CV chassis.

Commissioned by DC Productions in 1995

Doughnut Trike

DOUGHNUT TRIKE, TOURING THEATRE SHOW

An electrically powered doughnut van, which drives around selling doughnuts transforms during the show, telescoping out to form a chopper trike motor bike. Built for a national touring street theatre show.

Commissioned by Whitewood and Fleming in 1996

Cremulator

Cremulator was commissioned by Walk the Plank for The Art Car Parade. It has a powered Digger arm on the roof, spinning dichroic spirit inside the hearse and a sound track by Matt Wand.

Opera Car

OPERA CAR, ENGLISH NATIONAL OPERA

A seventeenth century Italian opera updated to 1940’s Eastern Europe. The car was owned by a con man who toured around selling the elixir of love. This exotic mobile shop included a pulpit, his display case , the bottling plant and a handy bouncy castle for any passing children. The car is electrically powered with four wheel steering.

Angel

Angel Truck

ANGEL TRUCK, ‘MACHINATIONS’, CHANNEL 4

This touring ‘Angel’ clock was built as part of the Channel 4 ‘Machinations’ series. The clock was inspired by the Guinness Mobile Clocks of the 1950’s and 60’s which toured around Britain. The aluminium Angel opens to the sound of a mechanical drum machine. Inside there is a car which, once the angel has opened, swings upwards to form a juke box with mirror balls and kitch lighting. The car opens to a fanfare of horns and dancing electronics. Commissioned by Channel 4 in 1994.
