The Nawareum is a eco science museum in Straubing, Bavaria, in the south of Germany.
The commission came through Cabaret Mechanical Theatre based in Hastings. The brief was to build a series of interactive windmills to demonstrate their history. From the Vertical Axis windmills in Persia from around the 9th century AD to the Modern wind turbines that reach over 300m.
The models are made from welded mild steel that has been “heat blued” to give the distinctive colour and then protected by a layer of museum wax.
